The Social / Travel Committee plans trips and activities that take LCRTA members far and near. Some are 1-day trips, 3 or 4-day trips and the bigger trips can last a week or more.

Even though the pandemic put a damper on our calendar, the Social / Travel Committee met via ZOOM to plan future trips. We are thrilled to be "out and about" again, with you!

Show your spirit for the Lake County Captains as they go against the West Michigan Whitecaps at the Classic Stadium in Eastlake on Friday, May 24th. The first pitch begins at 6:35 pm, but gates open an hour earlier. See Order form here.

Thursday, June 27, 2024 - "Tuesdays with MORRIE" at Rabbit Run Theater
Once again, we return to "The Barn" in Madison for the production of "Tuesdays with MORRIE." We start the evening festivities with (an optional) dinner at the home of Jennifer Williams. NEW: There is no cost for the dinner before the show. This is Jennifer's gift to LCRTA and a wonderful opportunity to socialize with the group, before we travel 3-4 minutes down the road to Rabbit Run Theater for the performance. Transportation not included.
TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE is the autobiographical story of Mitch Albom, an accomplished journalist driven solely by his career, and Morrie Schwartz, his former college professor. Sixteen years after graduation, Mitch happens to catch Morrie’s appearance on a television news program and learns that his old professor is battling Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Mitch is reunited with Morrie, and what starts as a simple visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a last class in the meaning of life.
The group discounted price of $28 per ticket, including a special treat at intermission, is based on 20 participants. See this NEW order form for a timeline and the details. Sunday, August 11, 2024 - "Beautiful, The Carole King Musical" at the Beck Center (One day trip including transportation, with optional dinner afterwards) Join us for a trip to Lakewood for “Beautiful, The Carole King Musical” at the Beck Center for the Arts followed by an optional dinner, on your own, at the Market Street Family Restaurant in Mentor. Meet at the restaurant, ride the comfortable limousine bus and return after the show.
A Tony and Grammy Award Winner, this nostalgic yet fresh musical tells the story of the early life and career of Carole King, using songs that she wrote, often together with Gerry Goffin, and other contemporary hit songs by Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil, Phil Spector and others. Beautiful features a song list including such timeless hits as, "So Far Away," "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling," "You've Got a Friend," "I Feel the Earth Move," "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" and many more.

Thursday, August 29, 2024 - Cruise on the Goodtime III (one-day trip)
Join us along with Great Day! Tours for a cruise on the Goodtime III from the Port of Cleveland and learn the history of our city and its Lake Erie and Cuyahoga River waterways. After a delicious meal onboard, we will disembark to travel by bus to one of the few “Garden Cemeteries” known as Lakeview Cemetery. This 285-acre cemetery is the final resting place of many Cleveland notables including President James Garfield and Eliot Ness. October 10 thru 19(20), 2024 - Hawaiian Cruise Vacation (Multi-day trip)

December 3-4, 2024 - Christmastime at Tara Mansion
Step back into time at a home befitting the lifestyle of those in “Gone with the Wind” with Southern Belles taking us on a tour. Tara Mansion is a Country Inn near Sharon, PA in the Greek Revival-style that’s decorated with fascinating pieces of Civil War memorabilia. We will be served a delicious holiday dinner and breakfast among the beautiful Christmas decorations and lights. In addition, we will have afternoon tea. For more holiday festivities, on the trip home the bus will stop at the “Chocolate Kingdom” and Hermitage, PA. COST: $364 PER PERSON DBL OR $394 SGL.

TBD 2025 - Finger Lakes and Rochester (Multi days/multi nights possibility)
Based on the responses in the Travel Information Survey, the committee is looking into a multi-day visit to the Finger Lakes region and the city of Rochester, NY. To further investigate tour options, the Social / Travel Committee has decided to delay this trip until 2025.
