2023 SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE
SCHOLARSHIP NEWS: LCRTA has awarded yearly scholarships to a Lake County high school senior planning to attend college with a major in education. The scholarship is a one-time award and is not renewable. The number of scholarships presented varies and is dependent upon the amount in the Scholarship Fund. Members may donate at the bi-monthly luncheons or when renewing memberships.
The scholarship process is as follows: 1. In December, each Lake County high school receives applications from the LCRTA Scholarship committee. Interested candidates may obtain an application from their Guidance Counselor. 2. Completed applications must be received (or postmarked) by the third Friday in March. 3. In April, the Scholarship committee reviews the applications received and selects candidates for interviews. 4. Selected candidates are interviewed in May. 5. Scholarship award winners are selected following the interviews. 6. Scholarship awards are presented in person at the June LCRTA luncheon.
The committee uses the following criteria in making its selection(s): 1. Financial need 2. Academic achievement including grades, class rank, course selection and test scores 3. Community/extracurricular involvement 4. Leadership 5. Awards/recognition 6. Work history

SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISERS: "Dine to Donate" 2023-2024 The LCRTA Scholarship Committee is seeking funding for scholarships to be given to local high school students planning to Major in Education in college. To help achieve that goal, the Scholarship Committee has made arrangements for "Dine to Donate" fundraising events for 2024. You must bring the flier, and give it to your server, in order for the LCRTA Scholarship Fund to get credit for your purchase. Fliers will be available at the luncheons, other LCRTA events and on the website. Feel free to bring an extra check to drop in the donation jar, if you would like. Additional donations can also be mailed to the LCRTA treasurer, Pat Humphrey, 7330 Holly Park Drive, Concord, Ohio 44060, at any time. Please consider LCRTA in your estate planning by bequeathing a donation to the Scholarship Fund in your will, as well.
Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm at Spirits in Willoughby at 3872 Erie Street in Willoughby (in front of Willoughby Coal). Get a "jump start" on the summer and join our Lake County Retired Teachers Association as we raise funds for the Scholarships given to high school seniors who plan to major in Education. Bring the flier to the restaurant for "in-person" and "to-go" dining and 20% of your food purchases, will be donated to the organization.

Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm we return to El Palenque Authentic Mexican Favorites at 35520 Vine Street, Eastlake, Ohio 44095 to celebrate Mexican style.
